Spanish Spelling Test

A free spelling practice tool for Spanish students that reads words aloud, grades answers instantly, and gives teachers a class dashboard. No login required.

The Problem

My kids had Spanish spelling tests every week. The routine was always the same: I would read each word from a list, they would write it down, and then we would check together. It worked, but it was slow, I was not always available to help, and my pronunciation is not great. I wanted something that could read the words correctly, check the spelling automatically, and let the kids practice on their own whenever they wanted.

I looked for apps that did this. Everything I found either required a paid subscription, only worked with pre-loaded word lists, or could not handle the accent marks that are essential in Spanish spelling. So I built one.

How It Works

For students and parents: type your word list into the text box (or paste it from a worksheet), click Start Test, and the app reads each word aloud using the browser's built-in text-to-speech. The student types the word, and the app shows letter-by-letter feedback immediately. At the end, you see a score, a list of missed words, and an option to practice just the ones you got wrong.

For teachers: there is a teacher mode that generates a shareable test link. Send the link to your class, students take the test in their browser, and results automatically appear on a live class dashboard. You can see each student's score, time taken, missed words, and export everything to CSV or print individual reports. Test results are stored on Cloudflare for 24 hours and then automatically deleted.

Privacy

In regular practice mode, absolutely no data leaves the device. There are no analytics, no cookies, no tracking. Test history is stored locally in the browser. In teacher mode, student submissions (name and score) are sent to the server temporarily for the dashboard, but everything is deleted after 24 hours. No accounts or logins are required for either mode.

Who It Is For

Students learning Spanish spelling at any level, parents who want their kids to practice independently, and teachers who need a quick way to administer and grade spelling tests without paper. It is used in homes and classrooms, and since it works offline, it is especially handy on school-issued tablets that have limited or filtered internet access.

This is the least "financial" project in the collection, but it solves a real daily problem in my house, and that is reason enough to build and maintain it.
